Heavenly Light Sunrise Landscape

Fine Art Landscape by Christina Rollo

I’m blessed to have a beautiful view of the nearby forest from our home. I also have the pleasure of viewing a variety of wildlife throughout the seasons. Beyond the trees there’s a pond in the woods where my tree house is located. It’s very much like Henry David Thoreau’s Walden Pond.

On a damp morning in late summer I awoke to this spectacular sunrise. I watched for about half an hour while beautiful rays of heavenly light danced through the trees. It was very inspiring to watch. It was such a blessing for me to experience this peaceful scenery, I hope you will enjoy it too!

Snow White Tufted Titmouse Photo Art by Christina Rollo

Photo Art by Christina Rollo Snow White Tufted Titmouse

Snow White Tufted Titmouse – Beautiful Tufted Titmouse sitting on a snowy landscape. This photo is one of my favorite winter bird photos! I really enjoy watching and photographing these birds at this time of year.

The Tufted Titmouse is a small North American bird from the tit and chickadee family. They are gray on top and white underneath with an adorable face, and a cute crest of gray hair at the top of their head. They are common at bird feeders especially in winter when food is scarce.

Escaping the Blues

Escaping the Blues Weeping Tree Artwork by Christina Rollo

Escaping the Blues Weeping Tree Artwork by Christina Rollo – Why is it called ‘Escaping the Blues’? Because when the original photo was taken at a park in Michigan, it was during one of my walks under a bland grey sky in early spring. Even though the weather was gloomy I took my camera because I wanted to focus my attention on the beauty not the gloom. Art reflects life, sometimes we need to do this to escape our blues. Regardless of the weather or season I think trees are one of the most artistic things in nature to appreciate.

Nature Abstract Art

Colorful Abstract Series

Natural abstract art is unique and different according to changing weather conditions. In the fall when the leaves change colors, I look forward to photographing these colorful mosaic pattern nature abstracts.

Clear sparking water and wind mixes the reflection of fall foliage and creates a beautiful frosted glass effect. I never know what to expect, the colors and designs vary from day to day, and year to year.

Brilliant colors of fall foliage reflecting on the surface of the water create an interesting natural abstract pattern. When the wind blows, colors and patterns change making each of these abstracts beautiful and unique.

Watch for Patterns

Colorful waves of blue, green, and yellow come together in a beautiful natural flowing pattern. This image gives me a great sense of calm, just like the day I photographed it while relaxing by our pond.

All Seasons

This reflection of bright aspen trees on fresh water against a beautiful blue sky was photographed in spring instead of fall.

Mixing Colors

Some of these abstract photographs can be mixed and matched because the colors are similar, but no two are ever exactly alike. Much of the fun for me is inventing fruitful names for them, I call this one “Coral Confetti”.

Experimenting with Ideas

Here are a few ideas for making your own abstracts. Look for colorful reflections on any shiny surface, especially water. Watch for emerging patterns depending upon weather and time of day. Experiment, try manual and auto focus, as well as varying shutter speeds. Zoom in close on colors and patterns to isolate a variety of colors with minimal distractions.

If you have trouble seeing something interesting, consider creating a point of interest yourself. For this image I used a fast shutter speed while tossing a pebble in the water.

Endless Possibilities

The possibilities for creating colorful abstract art is endless. It’s fairly easy to do once you teach yourself to see unique photo opportunities. You might even consider photographing abstracts that are more recognizable, like this colorful tree reflection.

I hope you were inspired by theses colorful images. I look forward to seeing you create some wonderful and unique natural designs of your own!

Macro Photography Insects

How to Photograph Beautiful Insects Close up

With a little bit of patience macro photography can be fun! Most pollinating insects are too busy to notice me getting close to them. I usually pick a flower, pre-focus and wait for bugs to come to it. When following insects such as butterflies, I never cast my shadow over them because they’ll fly away. Point and shoot cameras are perfect for photographing insects close-up. Look for the macro setting (usually a flower symbol) on your camera.

Hummingbird Triptych Art

Art Panels Make Beautiful Decor

This nature inspired Hummingbird Triptych Art is a unique and creative way to brighten up any room. I created these panels to be enjoyed as a set. The best part is no framing is necessary, in fact I suggest that these panels be purchased ready-to-hang on canvas, metal, or acrylic. Simply click each image panel link below to order the entire set!

“I love your idea of breaking an image into 3 separate ones for hanging as a series. Very cool idea. This would look so strong presented that way.” ~ Lisa from BC Canada
